Most popular commercial
laundry detergents contain phosphates, ammonia, naphthalene,
phenol, optical brighteners, artificial fragrances,
EDTA, etc. These chemicals can cause rashes, itching,
allergic reactions and sinus problems, as well as have
long-term toxic effects on the environment.
Nature’s Alternative. Soap
Nuts are a versatile cleaning product that are 100%
natural, eco-friendly and biodegradable. When
combined with water in your washing machine, Soap Nuts
release natural saponins that act as surfactants, helping
water bind with dirt and grime, lifting particles away
from clothing in the same way that laundry detergent
does … without the need for synthetic chemicals.

Botanical name: Sapindus Mukorossi
Family name: Sapindaceae
Common name: “Soap Nut” or “Wash
Nut”
Habitat: Grows throughout India
and Nepal in the lower forests
While there are several types of “Soap Nut” trees,
the shells we import come from Sapindus
Mukrossi (North India/Himalayas). These
are not to be confused with Sapindus Trifoliatus (South
India), which produces a much smaller, darker nut. The
fruit of the sapindus are sticky and golden in colour
during harvesting, changing to reddish-brown when dried
into halved shells.
Great for Your Skin
Soap Nuts are hypoallergenic, gentle on the skin and
naturally antibacterial and antifungal. The Soap
Nut has been traditionally used in India to reduce
the symptoms of psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions. Soap
Nuts are also used extensively in Ayurvedic
Medicine.
